Flow is an exploration into how architects can understand and represent air flow within spaces. Traditionally, concepts of heat transfer, stack effect, and natural ventilation are taught in ways that allow for little exploration and experimentation. By developing a testing this model which visualizes air flow through section, thermal concepts can be understood by students not as an afterthought but as a spatial and architectural driver. This research highlights possibilities for incorporating less divided systems of ventilation and introduces more holistic or passive strategies - with or without mechanical systems.
